Green flags!

A piercing of course doesn't have feelings, but when it's angry you know about it. Here's some tips and tricks on doing better for your piercing.

Staying hydrated, it helps a lot with your body throughout the day and also helps with healing your piercings.

Plenty of sleep, tiredness really effects how your mind works, but also drains your body. When we sleep our body swells a little so the skin can detox itself from collecting all the dirt, dust and germs throughout the day, this helps with piercings too.

Don't stress out, if your job or life is causing you to stress out a lot, have more "breathers" or mini get aways, cleansing yourself from stress helps your body.

When washing your body, or hair, make sure you rinse off all soaps, shampoos and conditioners.

Don't wear makeup near/around your piercings, it's hard to removing off the skin without using products so just be careful and don't wear it near your piercings while they're healing.

Don't sleep on your piercings, most certainly when they are freshly done, not only does it hurt meaning you'll lose sleep, but when creating pressure on a piercing it can move direction so could heal at an angle. Get yourself a travel or doughnut pillow, or even a pregnancy pillow.

Avoid heavy drinking (alcohol) while your piercing is healing, it's known to thin your blood, meaning clotting and cells have to work harder meaning prolong healing.

Please don't change your jewellery so soon, if you need to please visit me, changing your jewellery early can cause issues.

Red flags!

What to avoid when it comes to looking after your piercings. If a studio/piercer tells you to use anything below or doesn't go into depth about things, FIND A NEW PIERCER.

Don't touch your piercing, mostly during the healing part. You are touching/grabbing so many things throughout the day, so would you touch your piercing after going to the toilet? No.

Don't use chemicals on your piercings. Anything like TCP, Savlon, Surgical Spirits, Dettol, Chlorine and so on. These things are just too harsh to put on a piercing, it can cause more harm.

OILS DON'T BELONG ON PIERCINGS. Don't use BPA, tea tree or lavender oils, it's stupid.

SALT IS FOR PASTA, NOT PIERCINGS. Salt is a drying agent; it can cause your skin to dry out and become irritated, meaning your biggest organ isn't doing its correct job.

Contact lens solution is a no from me. There are 2 main ingredients that are in contact lens solution that are scary and don't belong on an open wound, let alone a piercing. Hydrogen Peroxide and Benzyl Alcohol, both are very harsh and can cause serious issues to the skin/piercings.
